Have you ever heard of the butterfly effect? It suggests that how a small change can lead to a large difference. However, this article is not about the butterfly effect. It is about how you can bring change in your community.
You may describe yourself as a normal person or you maybe the extraordinary one who has accomplished many things in your life. I do not mind how you would describe yourself: if you are reading this, just ask yourself a question, do you want to bring positive change in the world? I do not know about you, but I have always had a strong desire to change the world. I wanted to create a difference just so that the unprivileged people can have a happy life. I wished that I could eradicate poverty forever. I still feel sad as I know people are dying due to starvation while I am writing this article.
But let us not go any further than that because we have heard enough of things like poverty, epidemics, civil war, corruption, terrorism and many more world problems than I can ever think. We all know there are difficulties all around the world and it will not be fixed in a day. So perhaps we can start by solving smaller problems because change can be brought by changing ourselves first.
You can start by being kind to others. Help the needed one if you can. If you ca not, then just smile because believe me or not a smile can make someone’s day better. Try to search for the spark of hope because it is the only thing that can keep your spirit alive. And most importantly, have a little faith.
You may be wondering that it is not worth it, if you do not have any talents to make the difference but that is not true at all. No one is born without talents. I see every child, every teen, youth and even old people with some talents. You may not be a good leader but maybe you are a good public speaker. You can also bring change if you are a writer. Maybe you are a singer, dancer, or an entertainer. It does not matter, because from my experience I have come up with artists who are raising funds for the kids just so they can get a quality education. So, if you want to make difference then turn your passion into an art, and use that art to change the world.
It takes lot of effort to change the perspective of the whole world and sometimes it seems just impossible to make the difference in this cruel world but look at Nelson Mandela. No one thought that he would end apartheid and introduce equality one day, after being in prison for 27 years. In my opinion, we need to believe what is true and right for our community where we are living because change is an essential part of evolving and it takes more than dreaming to make it happen.
It starts with a single step to make a difference. It starts with you and me. If we all stand together with same hope of making this world a better place then there is no way anyone can turn us down. We are the future and only we can make the change that we wish to see in the world.
