Children are at the heart of what we do at Urunji...
Protecting them as well as other vulnerable persons is one of the mandates that we have. Our safeguarding policy stands on four pillars:
Pillar 1
Setting and implementing monitoring standards
We will ensure that new staff and volunteers are oriented on our safeguarding policy and will provide recurrent training to existing staff and volunteers every biannually.
Pillar 2
Creating and maintaining safe environments
All children and vulnerable persons must be accompanied by another adult when meeting with Urunji staff, service providers, vendors or volunteers.
Pillar 3
Ensuring safe recruitment practices at all times
All staff and volunteers shall undergo police clearance before being engaged. We shall also conduct thorough background checks on candidates before offering them employment.
Pillar 4
Maintaining a zero tolerance to abuse
Urunji will promptly respond to any allegations or suspicions of child abuse and will provide legal support and shelter to victims where necessary.
