Job Opportunity: Global Resource Mobilization Partner

Organisation: Urunji Child-Care Trust
Location: United States, Canada, United Kingdom or Europe
Engagement: Strategic consultancy or partnership
Working arrangement: Fully remote
Compensation: Negotiable, with a focus on results and sustainable resource mobilisation
Please apply only if you are located in the USA, Europe or Canada and meet the minimum requirements.

Introduction

What if your network, experience and influence could help transform the lives of thousands of children and families living in extreme poverty?

Urunji Child-Care Trust is a Malawian charitable organisation working to help communities discover pathways out of extreme poverty. Our programmes focus on children’s education and nutrition, girls’ empowerment, regenerative agriculture, women’s livelihoods, clean water and youth skills development.

Our work is rooted in rural communities, where access to educational opportunities, adequate nutrition, clean water and sustainable livelihoods remains a significant challenge.

We are looking for an exceptional, well-connected and results-driven Global Resource Mobilisation Partner to help us unlock international philanthropic support, corporate partnerships and in-kind donations to expand our impact.

This is an opportunity for an experienced fundraiser, philanthropic adviser, corporate partnership specialist or influential professional who wants to use their expertise and networks to create meaningful social change.

The Opportunity

We want to build lasting relationships with philanthropists, foundations, corporations, high-net-worth individuals and other potential supporters in North America and Europe.

Our ideal partner will help us access these networks, open doors to new opportunities and convert promising relationships into tangible resources for our programmes.

We are particularly interested in someone who understands how major donors make giving decisions, knows how to build strategic partnerships and has a demonstrated ability to mobilise significant resources for charitable causes.

Our minimum requirement is a proven track record of raising at least US$250,000 or more for a charitable organisation.

We welcome professionals who may not be actively seeking employment but would be interested in lending their expertise, relationships and influence to a meaningful cause.

What You Will Do

Working virtually with Urunji’s leadership in Malawi, you will:

  • Develop and implement an international resource mobilisation strategy aligned with Urunji’s priorities.

  • Introduce Urunji to potential major donors, philanthropists, family foundations, corporate sponsors and institutional partners.

  • Identify and cultivate relationships that can generate substantial financial contributions and long-term partnerships.

  • Secure corporate social responsibility partnerships, sponsorships, matching-gift opportunities and other forms of philanthropic support.

  • Mobilise in-kind donations, including computers, solar equipment, educational materials, bicycles, agricultural inputs and other resources required by our programmes.

  • Identify opportunities for strategic collaborations with international charities, foundations and businesses.

  • Advise Urunji on positioning its programmes to attract international philanthropic and corporate support.

  • Support donor engagement, partnership negotiations and the development of compelling fundraising propositions.

  • Establish measurable fundraising targets and report on progress, commitments and resources mobilised.

You will have the flexibility to leverage your professional network, experience and preferred fundraising approaches while collaborating directly with Urunji’s leadership.

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking someone who combines fundraising expertise with the ability to build relationships and influence decisions.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A demonstrable record of raising at least US$250,000 for a registered charity or nonprofit organisation.

  • Established connections with philanthropists, major donors, corporate executives, foundations or other significant sources of charitable funding.

  • Experience in major-donor fundraising, philanthropic advisory services, corporate partnerships, nonprofit development or resource mobilisation.

  • Strong relationship-building, communication, negotiation and strategic thinking skills.

  • The ability to identify opportunities, make meaningful introductions and convert relationships into results.

  • A genuine commitment to poverty reduction, children’s welfare, education, women’s empowerment or sustainable community development.

  • The ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a team based in Malawi.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate their personal contribution to previous fundraising successes. References and other appropriate verification will be required.

What Makes This Opportunity Different?

This is not simply a fundraising job. It is an opportunity to help a grassroots African organisation connect with the global resources needed to create lasting change.

You will work directly with Urunji’s leadership and see how resources translate into practical outcomes for children, families and communities.

Your contribution could help provide school meals, support girls to remain in school, equip young people with employable skills, strengthen women’s livelihoods, improve food security and expand access to clean water.

We are particularly interested in building a relationship with someone who sees the potential for a sustained partnership rather than a one-off fundraising exercise.

Compensation and Partnership Arrangements

We recognise that experienced fundraising professionals bring different expertise, networks and working preferences. We are therefore open to discussing a mutually beneficial arrangement.

Depending on the candidate’s experience, proposed contribution and applicable legal requirements, possibilities may include:

  • A performance-oriented consultancy arrangement.

  • A modest retainer combined with agreed performance incentives, where resources permit.

  • Fixed-fee assignments for defined fundraising or partnership-development activities.

  • Another transparent and legally compliant arrangement proposed by the candidate.

We welcome proposals from professionals interested in contributing their expertise on a flexible basis.

Any compensation linked to fundraising results will be subject to applicable laws, relevant professional standards, donor requirements and the terms of any funding agreements.
